In Europe, there are wedding customs in France, Greece, Germany, Scotland, England, etc..

English customs:

White wedding dress symbolize purity – not virginity – in the Victorian era. “White wedding” in tradition, is not for a bride who marry 2nd+ time or for a widow or divorce.

A wedding is usually followed by a wedding reception, toasting the couple, the newlyweds having the first dance, and cutting the cake. A bride will throw her bouquet to a group of unmarried women and the groom throwing the bride’s garter to the assembled unmarried men; who catches the bouquet or the bride’s garter symbolize they will be the next to wed.

There is also a Victorian tradition that brides will wear or carry “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” during the service. Meaning good luck.
